PML designed this 6L90 transmission pan for 2007 to 2021 3/4 ton GM heavy duty gas engine trucks, SUVs and vans such as Chevy Silverado 2500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD.
Benefits:
- Extra capacity, fins and aluminum construction to dissipate heat from transmission fluid
- Drain plug for easier maintenance
- Thick walls to add strength to the transmission housing
- Thick gasket flange, machined flat, for a leak-free seal
- Step in the back to clear exhaust
The truck stock pan is about 3 1/2 inches deep so the PML pan is about 3 inches deeper than the stock pan.
For a heavy duty pan closer to stock depth, see PML 6L90 Stock Capacity Transmission Pan.
The 6L80 transmission pan is similar in shape but the 6L80 is shorter at 17 1/2 inches.
Applications:
This pan fits the GM 6L90, 6L90E transmission. Here are examples of some vehicles that typically have a 6L90 and may be able to use this transmission pan:
- Silverado and Sierra 2500/3500 gas engine trucks, 6.0L or 6.6L L8T, 2007 and newer (some 2020 and later models may have 8 or 10 speed)
- Express and Savana vans, 4.8L, 6.0L, and 6.6L Diesel, 2010 and newer (some 2017 and later models may have 8 or 10 speed)
- Suburban, 6.0L, 2008 to 2020 (some 2018 and later models may have 8 or 10 speed)
- Tahoe 6.0L, not hybrid, 6.0L, some models starting in 2008 (some 2018 and later models may have 10 speed)
- Yukon HD, 6.0L, not hybrid, 6.0L, some models starting in 2008 (some 2018 and later models may have 10 speed)
Note: Trucks and SUVs have a variety of configurations. Look at yours before you order to verify your transmission and clearance. Vans especially should check for clearance. Some Tahoe and Yukon HD 6.0L, not hybrid, may also have this transmission but most have 6L80 or a 10 speed 10L80. PML cannot guarantee a pan will fit.
Stock capacity 6L90 pan: Cadillac CTS-V and Camaro ZL1, some vans and trucks with skid plates may need a pan closer to stock depth. See PML 6L90 stock capacity pan, which offers more ground clearance than this deep pan: PML Stock Capacity 6L90 Transmission Pan.
Installation: In some cases, you will need to drop the exhaust to install this pan. You would need to drop the exhaust to service the transmission with the stock pan as three bolts are not otherwise accessible. See installation images below that show the routing of the exhaust.

The OEM gasket from the factory can be reused if clean and free of any holes or nicks which can cause leaks.

Because the pan is deeper than stock, the pan has filter supports cast in. A deeper filter or extension is not needed since the transmission fluid is at the same level with a PML pan as with the stock pan.

Some cars and 2019 and newer trucks, have a stock pan with the level check on the pan. These vehicles may not have a dipstick. This PML pan is compatible with those applications. If your vehicle does not need a level check on the pan, then simply plug the hole (plug supplied) and forget about it.
Originally, PML did not make this pan with a level check hole as trucks and SUVs all had dipsticks until around 2019. PML updated the pan to include the level check hole and plug.

The 6L90 transmission has two stock pans that we know of. In this picture:
- OEM part number 24226851 is on the left. It does not have a level check tube and is commonly found on 2007 to 2019 trucks, SUVs, and vans. Some newer vehicles also have this pan.
- OEM part number 24248164 is on the right. It has a level check tube. OEM part number 24248164 supersedes several other parts numbers for the same pan. It is commonly found on cars and some 2019 and newer trucks, SUVs and vans.
